"Censorship reflects a society's lack of confidence in itself"

"The secret in freedom lies in education, whereas the secret in tyranny is in keeping them ignorant"
- Eujinn Chia, Prime Minister Candidate
A young Chinese man born out of the notorious depths of Yishun, he was raised an orphan- abandoned by his biological parents. The biggest memory from his juvenile years was sadly, his ever-changing foster parents. With every name change came a blow to his self-identity. Moreover, working odd jobs and paying for his own education was not easy. He experienced immense pressure as a 12 year old due to the national exams and from being streamed to a school that wasn't prestigious. He was in an environment where the self-fulfilling prophecy was strong- his classmates believed and behaved as if they were inadequate. Due to the education system’s rigidity and focus on academic ranking, Eu Jinn and his classmates found it hard to believe that they were not failures. However, encouragement from his foster parents coupled with his perseverance secured Eu Jinn a seat at the prestigious Ivy League School, Yale University, where he majored in Political Science.
Due to his previous hardships, Eu Jinn is passionate about creating a better society for future generations. His commitment ignited a similar spark among his close friends- a passion to improve society. Together, they formed the ‘’Lets Ignite Tomorrow Party’’ (The LIT Party).

In his term in office, Eu Jinn pledges to resolve three issues. Firstly, educational reforms for a more flexible, holistic, equal and happier education. Secondly, cultural identity restoration, re-igniting Singapore's collective identity and pride. And lastly, reduced censorship to allow Singaporeans to be more open-minded, critical and holistic. He believes that these resolutions symbolise the flames that will be the trailblazer for the future. Stand with him and ignite the path, for our children is our fire, and our torch—the future.
